Finn Juhl logo cast directly into the fitting · Exhibited at the Milan design fair, 2015
When furniture company One Collection decided to relaunch Finn Juhl's classic dining table with an advanced pull-out leaf, Linimatic was brought in to manufacture the precise fittings that carry the leaves. The leaves had to both hang and lie in a very specific way — and the fittings are both a technical function and a visible part of the iconic design.

"Fittings are often a necessary evil. But at Finn Juhl the fittings have a technical function, and they're also part of the visual design. That creates particular challenges for manufacturers. The simpler things look, the more complicated they can be to make. That's actually what we experienced," says Henrik Sørensen, CEO of One Collection.
"By making the fittings in die-cast zinc, we could get the visual expression we wanted — while also having a high degree of precision. It was also possible to cast the Finn Juhl logo directly during the casting process, saving us a work step," says Henrik Sørensen, continuing: "The collaboration throughout the process is very much a dialogue. Linimatic has skills we don't have, and they were brought in. It's also important to feel engagement, passion — that the supplier also finds the product interesting."
The new Finn Juhl 'Nyhavn' dining table (model FJ 5360) launched with the precision-cast zinc fittings — with the Finn Juhl logo cast directly into the fitting — and was exhibited at the Milan design fair on 13 April 2015.
