Prototyping in Zinc

In some projects, it can be an advantage to produce prototypes in zinc before investing in the final production tooling. The prototypes can be made by combining cast zinc with subsequent CNC machining.

This makes it possible to test function, assembly, fit, and appearance in the actual material. We assess together with the customer whether the method is relevant, and manage the whole process from initial clarification to finished prototypes.

Prototyping in Zinc

How we make your zinc prototype

01

Clarification

Together with you, we assess whether zinc prototyping is the right method for your project, and agree on scope and timeline.

02

Casting

Small, specially made zinc blocks are cast, suited for the subsequent CNC machining.

03

CNC Machining

The cast zinc blocks are CNC-machined into finished prototypes, precisely to your drawings and specifications.

04

Finished Prototype

The finished prototype is delivered ready for testing function, assembly, fit, and appearance in the actual material. Typical turnaround is 2-4 weeks.

Why prototype with your production foundry

In some cases, a zinc prototype can be a good and cost-effective way to validate your idea and confirm the material's suitability for your specific application — before you invest in the final production tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can I get a zinc prototype?

It depends on the part's complexity and the amount of CNC machining involved. Contact us with your timeline, and we'll get back to you with a concrete estimate of feasibility and lead time.
