Smooth collaboration with a forecast agreement

Forecast agreement renewed annually · Robot introduced on the production line

VELUX's Gåsdal division has run on a standing Kanban and forecast agreement with Linimatic for several years, making the collaboration easier and more predictable for both sides. The agreement is renewed every year, includes built-in price protection against raw material and currency swings — and has, among other things, led to a robot now handling the parts in production.

Smooth collaboration with a forecast agreement
01

The challenge

"Of course there's a price agreement with built-in protection for both parties, for example against fluctuations in raw material prices and exchange rates. But perhaps even more importantly, the agreement also lets Linimatic plan and adjust production capacity, and so be able to deliver quickly, at the agreed quality and the agreed time," says Lars Daugaard Pedersen, strategic purchaser at VELUX.

02

Our approach

"We're of course always looking for savings, and we talked to Linimatic about ways to shave a bit off the price. Linimatic suggested implementing a robot on the production line. We didn't have to pay for the robot itself, just a small investment in a special gripper adapted to our parts. With the robot, we now save the wage cost of the operator who used to handle our part, and the result is a solid saving," explains Lars Daugaard Pedersen. "Things just run — and a clear advantage is that we don't have to negotiate all the time. We have really good sparring with Linimatic's technicians, and there's always room to bring a new idea to the table."

03

The result

A close, smooth collaboration for both parties — no constant renegotiation, with ongoing sparring and knowledge-sharing between Linimatic and VELUX.
